Visit Fort Bragg

A Tiny Coastal Town

In our tiny coastal town 150 miles north of San Francisco, you’ll find the roar of city traffic is replaced by the soothing sound of ocean waves. Our city lights are bright stars in a black sky. The air is fresh; the water clean and clear. Whales live here year-around. Birding abounds.

Wildlife

Our rocky shores are home to abundant wildlife and the Fort Bragg-Mendocino gateway to the California Coast National Monument. If you're a photography buff, this is the place to capture the beauty and the rough.

The Point Cabrillo Lighthouse

The Point Cabrillo Lighthouse beam reaches ships 15 miles out to sea, while fishing boats angle for salmon, Dungeness Crab and divers search for abalone.

Small Town Charm

Like many small towns, the things you love to do are a short walk or 5-minute drive. It is also a place where secluded beaches, walks to waterfalls, dog parks, and horseback beach rides thrive. If it's redwoods you want to see, then Fort Bragg is the place to be.

Historic Downtown

Historic Downtown Fort Bragg offers shopping, movies, restaurants, and spas. With a cooking school, museums, history walks, wine tasting and pubs with world-class brews, what better way to beat the Big City blahs?

Quiet Escapes

If you’re a boomer looking for a quiet escape, you can explore Glass Beach, kayak the Noyo, ride the Skunk Train, walk the ocean cliffs in MacKerricher State Park or stroll in Otis R. Johnson Wilderness Park or the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens. It’s as good as it gets.

Biking Trails

If you’re an adrenaline junkie, and it’s action you choose, the twisting single-track bike trails of Jackson State Forest with names like Widow Maker, Gunslinger and Thru Tree may be your muse.

Family Entertainment

Families can swim and play at C.V. Starr ride bikes, walk, or push strollers on the paved Haul Road along the ocean or ride the train. Organic food and pet lovers reign.

A Whale of a Tale

We even have a blue whale…skeleton that is. It’s an interesting tale.
