Senate Bill 978 requires that as of January 1, 2020, each local law enforcement agency must conspicuously post current standards, policies, practices, operating procedures, and education/training materials on their web site that would otherwise be available to the public if a request was made pursuant to the California Public Records Act. The State Legislature indicated that access to this material will help educate the public and increase communication and community trust.
