City Service

Lindy Peters first served on the City Council from 1992-2004 when he was elected to 3 consecutive terms. After a 10 year hiatus, he ran for City Council again in 2014 and was elected as the top vote-getter in a tight race. He served as Vice Mayor from 2014-2016 and has served two terms as Mayor, 1996-1998 and 2016-2018. Peters is the only Mayor in Fort Bragg's history to serve a second term almost exactly 20 years after he began his first term in the Mayoral office. Councilmember Peters serves on the City's Public Safety and Public Works and Facilities Committees, and is a board member of the Fort Bragg Fire Protection Authority. He also sits on the board of Sonoma Clean Power and is the City's alternate voting delegate to the League of California Cities. He is a member of the Bee City USA and Bee Garden Committees. Lindy Peters was elected to a two-year term in November 2022, and his term on the Council expires in December 2024.

Personal History

Born in San Rafael, he was raised in Davis, California where he lettered in high school football, basketball and baseball. He received a basketball scholarship to Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington where he spent 2 years on the varsity squad before transferring to University of California at Santa Barbara and graduating in 1975 with a B. A. in Dramatic Art and a minor in Political Science. He then went on to College of San Mateo and achieved an A.A. in Broadcast Journalism. After working at 2 stations in the Bay Area, he moved to Fort Bragg in 1981 to take a job at radio station KDAC and become the voice of Timberwolves football and basketball games. He moved to KMFB in 1983 and spent 32 years as the Morning Man and Sports Director. He is married to Sarah and has a son Lucas from a previous marriage.
