PUBLIC RECORDS REQUEST

The California Public Records Act declares that access to information concerning the conduct of the people’s business is a fundamental and necessary right of every person in the state because it gives the public an opportunity to monitor the functioning of their government. It is the City’s goal to provide the public with timely access to its public records.

There is no charge to review records; however, City policy permits the City to charge a fee to cover any duplication, electronic media, and/or other applicable direct cost City's Fee Schedule

Policies

Requests for records submitted through the Open Records Portal will be made publicly available. Prior to public posting, requests will be reviewed and possibly edited or rejected, consistent with the following policy:

  • Submissions will be edited to redact or remove sensitive and/or confidential information, such as social security numbers, dates of birth, or other information that disclosure of would constitute an unwarranted invasion of personal privacy;
  • Any submission that is not a request for public records will not be posted; and
  • Submissions containing profanity, obscenity, racial slurs, hate speech, or other discriminatory language will not be posted.
