The City of Fort Bragg is pleased to announce our Free Second Unit Design program to make it easier for residents to build new second units (also known as granny or in-law units) in city limits. The City commissioned architects, design professionals, and engineers to prepare 3 second unit designs with a range of sizes and features. Included Free Designs
Single story, 544 square feet, 1 bedroom, and 1 bath. Features: Gable roof, porch entry, open kitchen / living area, deck off living area with sliding glass doors, double hung windows, and high ceilings.
The Alley House
Single story, 611 square feet, 1 bedroom, and 1 bath. Features: Gable roof, small front porch, open kitchen-living area, storage loft, and double hung windows.
Single story, 767 square feet, 2 bedroom, and 1 bath. Features: Single story, gable roof, large front porch, open kitchen-living area, large storage loft, double hung windows, French doors onto deck off dining area, pantry, and porch off kitchen.
You can review the plans at the Community Development Department in City Hall, 416 North Franklin Street. Stop by to ask staff about fees, setbacks, parking, lot coverage, and other regulations specific to your property. You do not have to pay for having the designs drawn, but copies of the plans cost $3 per page for 24 by 36 inches black and white plans, or $5 per page for 24 by 36 inches color plans. All City and County fees for planning, building, or other permits still apply.
