Linda Ruffing, the City of Fort Bragg's Community Development Director for six years, was appointed by the City Council as Fort Bragg City Manager in January 2006.

Ruffing has lived on the Mendocino coast since 1990. Prior to joining the City's staff in 1999 she served as the Supervising Planner in Mendocino County's coast planning office and before that worked as a planner for several Bay area consulting firms. Since joining the City, Ruffing has overseen the comprehensive update of the City's General Plan, zoning ordinance and design guidelines, as well as preparation and implementation of the Downtown Revitalization Plan. She has been the City's primary negotiator with Georgia-Pacific regarding matters pertaining to redevelopment of the former mill site, and has written and administered grants for more than $10 million of State and Federal funding to assist the City with community development activities.
